02What it is

The HPV vaccine is a series of injections that protect against human papillomavirus and its complications, including cervical cancer and genital warts. It contains a simulation of the virus — not the live virus — which prompts your immune system to build protective antibodies.

03Who it's for

Recommended for children aged 11–12 (can start at 9), and for teens and young adults up to age 26 who were not vaccinated earlier. Adults aged 27–45 may still benefit after a risk assessment. Even those previously exposed to HPV can be protected against strains they have not yet encountered.

04How we diagnose

Before vaccinating, Dr. Aldam holds a personalized consultation to discuss your age, history and circumstances and confirm how much benefit the vaccine offers you. This decides your suitability and the right dosing schedule.

05How we treat

The vaccine is given as a course of injections based on age. Those aged 9–15 need two doses, with the second 6–12 months after the first. Those aged 15 and over need three doses: the second 1–2 months after the first, and the third at 6 months.
