Laparoscopic hysterectomy is a surgical procedure that removes the uterus through small abdominal incisions using a laparoscope — a thin tube with a camera and light that guides the surgery while keeping the internal organs clearly in view. Because it avoids a large open incision, it reduces damage to surrounding tissue and generally shortens recovery.

It may be recommended for women with heavy or abnormal uterine bleeding, severe endometriosis, uterine fibroids causing significant discomfort, chronic pelvic pain, pelvic support problems such as prolapse, or gynecological cancers of the cervix, womb, or ovaries. Women who no longer wish to have children may also choose it to improve quality of life.
