Laparoscopic Hysterectomy

Laparoscopic hysterectomy is a minimally invasive removal of the uterus through small incisions, offering a smaller scar and faster recovery than open surgery. At Healia it is led by Dr. Mustafa Aldam after a careful, consultation-first assessment.

Laparoscopic Hysterectomy — Healia Women’s Health, Dubai
02What it is

Laparoscopic hysterectomy is a surgical procedure that removes the uterus through small abdominal incisions using a laparoscope — a thin tube with a camera and light that guides the surgery while keeping the internal organs clearly in view. Because it avoids a large open incision, it reduces damage to surrounding tissue and generally shortens recovery.

03Who it's for

It may be recommended for women with heavy or abnormal uterine bleeding, severe endometriosis, uterine fibroids causing significant discomfort, chronic pelvic pain, pelvic support problems such as prolapse, or gynecological cancers of the cervix, womb, or ovaries. Women who no longer wish to have children may also choose it to improve quality of life.

04How we diagnose

Before any surgery you meet a qualified gynecologic surgeon for a full consultation. Dr. Aldam reviews your medical history, current condition, and individual circumstances to confirm whether a laparoscopic approach is suitable — some situations, such as significant scarring from past surgery, may call for an alternative method.

05How we treat

Depending on your case, the uterus may be removed by total laparoscopic hysterectomy, laparoscopic-assisted vaginal hysterectomy, or a robotic-assisted approach through tiny incisions. Healia uses advanced laparoscopic technology and an experienced surgical team, and the plan — including any hormonal considerations — is discussed fully with you beforehand.

Questions, answered

Not always. Conditions such as extensive scarring from past surgery or certain health issues may require a different approach, so an individual assessment is essential.

The laparoscopic approach reduces damage to surrounding tissue, leaves a smaller scar, and generally improves recovery times.

Many patients walk the next day and return to lighter work within a few days, with most normal activities resuming around two weeks and fuller recovery over four to six weeks. Always follow your surgeon's advice.

A hysterectomy can involve hormonal changes and other effects, which Dr. Aldam will discuss with you before surgery.

Women's health surgery is led by Dr. Mustafa Aldam, Consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist, supported by an experienced surgical team and modern equipment.
